Robert E. Baker, Sr., age 82, of Cardington, died Thursday January 2, 2014 in the Morrow County Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1931 in Crossville, IL. to the late Royal C. Baker and Daisy I. ( Ripple ) Baker McClure.
Bob was a 1948 graduate of Pleasantville High School and was the owner and operator of Baker Oil Field Services for over 40 years. He loved riding and working on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge and twice served as the Worshipful Master.
On March 5, 1954 in New Harmony, IN., Bob married the former Marion Campbell and she survives in Cardington. Other survivors include sons: Robert E. Baker, Jr. of Cardington, Kerry ( Vicky ) Baker of Interlochen, MI., Terry ( Daria ) Baker of Castle Shannon, PA., and Gene ( Karen ) Baker of Rock Hill, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sons Ronald L. Baker and John E. Baker.
Friends may call Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014 at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington from 4:00 until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 P.M. Pastor Oakie Evans will officiate at the 6:00 P.M. funeral service. The burial will take place in the Union Cemetery in Crossville, IL. on Friday Jan. 10 2014.
