Early morning semi accident sends seriously injures driver

12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 -

An early morning accident on Interstate 71 in northeast Franklin Township in Morrow County seriously injured a Columbus man.

Post 59 of the Ohio State Patrol has reported Mohamed Dhaqane Olad, 26, was southbound on I-71 about 1:17 a.m. when he drove off the left side of the road into the median, struck the cable rail, continued south and struck the bulkhead between the two bridges over County Road 22. The truck fell approximately 50 feet onto the berm of CR 22 and came to a rest in a creek.

Emergency personnel from Morrow County EMS, Ohio State Patrol, and firefighters from Mt. Gilead, Fredericktown and Johnsville Fire Departments responded to the scene. Witnesses said it took about 90 minutes to extricate Olad from the cab, after which he was transported to MedCentral Hospital in Richland County. He was then flown to Grant Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Olad was driving for Botyasin of Irving, Texas and has not yet been cited, pending an investigation by OSHP..
