Letter to the Editor - response to previous letter

December 17, 2013

Dear Sir or Madam:

In response to a response by {a previous writer] in regards to the credibiity of previous statements of mine regarding Death Panels and the filibuster:

Point one, what would you call the idea of strangers who have no idea of who you are, deciding whether your medical prognosis or age should preclude you from getting Life Saving treatment or surgeries, other than DEATH PANELS?

Point two, regarding the filibuster, the whole idea of it was to prevent a majority party from riding rough shod over Congress. Republicans have had several chances over the years to do away with it, but decided it would be a dangerous precedent to set and I might add, the Democrats will rue the day they did it, because they won’t be the majority party forever, probably not after 2016, if not before.

Have you never heard of “Advise and Consent”? It is the means with which the Congress has to keep people it deems unqualified from being appointed to, for the most part, very important positions. As far as the Republicans blocking many of Mr. Obama’s nominees more than any other previous Presidents, perhaps if he would not nominate folks that seem to be radical in their view, more than any previous President, they might, go along with his choices.

As far as the Republicans being run by the Tea Party, if it weren’t for the original Tea Party, you would probably be singing “God Save the Queen”.

Hope I’ve clarified things for you.

Thank you,

Darl Mills, Mt. Gilead
