12.23.13 2:14 pm - An early morning fire at a rural apartment building has left two families displaced.
The call came in at 5:27 am Monday, Dec. 23, involving three apartments in a metal building at 4351 CR 124. Big Walnut Fire District, Mt. Gilead Fire Dept. and Cardington Fire dept. responded, as did Morrow County EMS.
No one was injured and the cause is undetermined at this time. The State Fire Marshall was called in to investigate, and the point of origin was in the front of the structure on the west side. The rental is managed by Ron Harper Realty
Tolly Brockbruder was on scene and stated that they will accept donations for the families at Ron Harper Realty located on W. High Street in Mt. Gilead.
“It is always tragic when a fire occurs, but it is especially tragic around the holidays,” said BWJFD Chief Rodger Norcross. “Fortunately, no one was injured. Fire crews were able to save presents from the upstairs apartment but were unable to salvage anything in the downstairs apartment.
The Red Cross is assisting the families.
The family that had the most damage from today’s fire have 3 boys. ages 3, 8 and 9. Boys shoes 9 toddler, boys 6 and 9 in men sizes. Clothes sizes are 3T, boys 8 and 12. The names are Aaron, Levi and Caleb.
