Two vehicle crash sends four to hospital

UPDATE Jan. 2, 2014 - A late Monday morning two-vehicle accident sent four people to the hospital.

One adult and three children were injured following a crash at County Road 24 and Lincoln Township Road 124 around 11:20 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2013.

A 1997 green Dodge Grand Caravan SE, driven by Debra Hutchinson, 57, of Cardington was traveling east on Township Road 124 when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the County Road 24 intersection, striking a southbound 2004 gray Dodge Ram 4x4 SLT driven by Tracy Pilkington, 26, of Mt. Gilead.

Hutchinson and three children were transferred by squad to the Morrow County Hospital. Previously reported eyewitness accounts of the children appearing to be unsecured were inaccurate. According to the OSHP all three children, ages 6, 7 and 9, were properly restrained.

Pilkington and her male passenger were both wearing their seat belt and were uninjured. There was a canine inside the truck as well.

Hutchinson was cited for failure to yield the right of way .

The accident was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post 59.

In addition to the OSHP, responding to the scene were the Mt. Gilead Fire Dept., Morrow County EMS and Morrow County Sheriff’s Dept.
