The shelves at the Morrow County Community Food Pantry located at Entrance C at Job and Family Services are ready for those residents needing emergency food. Donations during the holiday season help purchase canned goods, cereal, and frozen items from the Mid Ohio Food Bank in Columbus.
The food drive conducted by Northmor JOG students brought in a wide variety of items and was the largest food donation received in 2013.
The Pantry is now serving over 1000 county residents each month. Household income must be declared to comply with federal guidelines, but no one is turned away. Families, couples, and single individuals may receive a 3 day supply of food once per calendar month.
The Food Pantry is located at 619 West Marion Road, Mount Gilead, and open from 9am -11:45am Monday through Thursday. It is a cooperative effort between Job and Family Services and Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission to provide nutritious emergency food for Morrow County residents. The Pantry is a United Way Agency and receives donations from private individuals, churches, and businesses. All money goes towards the purchase of food.
