MANSFIELD, OHIO. The Renaissance Education Department announces that it will again offer its Improv Underground program, a free 7-week theatre improvisation course. Improv Underground classes focus on building basic improv skills through group activities, and are open to all students between the ages of 14 and 19. Students are guaranteed to gain self-confidence, improve communication skills, and have fun. All classes take place at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield from 4pm-5:30pm on Wednesdays. The course begins on January 29th and will run through March 12th. Students will showcase their skills at an improv Open Mic night at the Renaissance on March 14th. The course is led by Dauphne Maloney, well-known throughout the area for her work with youth theatre, with occasional visits from Renaissance Artistic Director Michael Thomas, a former Second City improv troupe member.
