A number of people were detained on an investigative hold and released after the search of a local residence yielded a cache of drugs and some weapons.
Cardington Police Chief John Hinton issued a press release Wednesday, January 29 regarding the confiscation:
“On January 27, 2014 the Cardington Police Department and the Mt. Gilead Police Department executed a search warrant in the Village of Cardington. Located in the residence was a large amount of suspected cocaine, indoor marijuana grow, weapons and approximately $400 in cash.
Also on January 27, 2014 Officers from the Cardington Police Department and the Mt. Gilead Police Department seized approximately 5 pounds of suspected marijuana and approximately $4500 in cash.
In the early morning of January 28, 2014 the Cardington Police Department obtained a search warrant for a residence in Morrow County. The Morrow County SRT Team which consists of members from the Mt. Gilead Police Department and the Morrow County Sheriffs’ Office executed the search warrant. After executing the search warrant Officers from the Cardington Police Department and Deputies from the Morrow County Sheriffs’ Office searched the residence. Located in the residence was approximately 3 pounds of suspected marijuana, a suspected psilocybin mushroom grow, large quantity of prescription medication, suspected steroids and an unknown amount of cash and weapons.
These search warrants concluded a month long investigation in the Village of Cardington.
Cardington Police Chief John Hinton would like to thank Mt. Gilead Police Chief Brian Zerman and Morrow County Sheriff Steve Brenneman for supplying Officers and Deputies to assist in the investigations. Without a combined team effort these investigations would not be possible.
The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, The Mt. Gilead Police Department and The Cardington Police Department are all members of the METRICH Drug Task Force.”
