Severe weather affects blood supplies

February 18, 2014

Recent severe winter during the month of January has affected the ability of the Red Cross to recruit much needed blood donors. More donors of all types are needed now, with an urgent need for types O-negative, O-positive, A-negative and B-Negative.

Since January first, winter weather has forced the cancelation of thirty-seven (37) area blood drives in Central Ohio so far, resulting in a shortfall of about nine hundred (900) donations. Across the country that shortfall is nearly twenty thousand (20,000) blood donations due to canceled blood drives in twenty-six (26) states.

Please help us fill this shortage by attending our next blood drives.
