Second and fifth grade students at Highland Elementary School having been spreading kindness throughout the school this winter under the leadership of social workers Amy Rinehart and Michelle Mosher.
Due to a generous donation of books from the 2nd and Seven Foundation, every second grader received their very own copy of The Hog Mollies and the Great Golden Gizmo. Second grade students were paired up with a fifth grade buddy reader who read the story to their second grade buddy to learn how kindness becomes contagious when you help others. After finishing the story Mrs. Rinehart and Mrs. Mosher led the students through a brainstorming session on how we can demonstrate kindness towards the staff of Highland Elementary who make our school be successful. Students decided to create thank you cards for Highland Elementary School’s custodians, secretaries, principals, cafeteria staff and school nurse to thank them for all that they do for our school. After the students created the thank you cards they were delivered to the staff members in an effort to make kindness contagious.
