North Union jumped on Highland early and didn’t let up in a 67-21 victory in a Division III girls’ sectional game Wednesday.
The host Wildcats jumped out to a 17-2 lead after the opening period and increased their advantage to a 37-10 margin by the half.
They would then go on to take the second half by a 30-11 score to continue adding to their lead for the remainder of the game.
Kayla Davies finished with nine points to pace the Scots.
Mount Gilead Indians
Mount Gilead’s stay in the Division III postseason girls’ basketball tournament was a brief one, as the top-seeded Central District squad from Africentric proved too tough a test in a 90-7 defeat.
The Nubians flexed their muscles early, as they took a 30-0 lead after the opening eight minutes of play before adding to their advantage in each of the remaining three periods.
Morgan Brooke’s four points led the Lady Indians in the contest.
