Activity begins at the park this month regardless of the weather.
The Lions Club and the Morrow County Community Center will be partnering to hold the annual Egg Hunt at the park on April 12 beginning at 10 a.m. This activity does not last very long and children need to find their age groups a few minutes before the starting whistle.
“Wee” Discover preschool begins at the Mount Gilead State Park on Thursday, April 3 with a morning session at 10:15 a.m. and a repeat program at 12:45 p.m. Three through five-year-olds experience and learn about nature through short hikes, books and hands-on activities. Songs, stories and take home projects will also be part of the program which will be held each Thursday through May 29th.
There is no preregistration or fee and the group will meet at the Nature Center or at the main shelterhouse when there is a large number of children.
Started in the fall of 1994, this will be the twentieth year for the program.
Be sure to stop in at the Mount Gilead Public Library and see the watershed display sponsored by the Morrow Environmental Education Committee.
Work will begin on the prairie plant hill by the basketball court on April 19 at 10 am. Bring gloves. Pizza will be furnished for workers’ lunches.
The annual Trash Bash will be held at the Morrow County Fairgrounds on April 26 at 9:00 am.. If your group is interested in participating in the roadway cleanup, call Luann Holmes in the Morrow County Health Department. Tires, computers and unused meds will also be collected at this time.
