April 8, 2014

April 8, 2014/11:45 a.m. - Some very observant Cardington Junior High students spotted a vehicle in a creek on their way to school Tuesday morning.

The students saw a silver Pontiac Grand Am partially submerged in muddy water as their bus crossed over a bridge on County Road 11 after 8:30 a.m. Cardington Schools notified law enforcement, and the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ohio State Patrol, Morrow County EMS, and firefighters from Cardington and Mt. Gilead, responded.

Witnesses at the scene said after firefighters examined the vehicle, it was determined there were no passengers in the car, which also had no license plates. The car was finally pulled from the water about 10:45 a.m. The owner was found and said to be on the scene about 11:15 a.m.

This is preliminary and unsubstantiated information. This story will be updated when information is obtained by the state patrol and sheriff’s office.
