In the Ontario Relays, which ran Thursday, the Highland boys took third place of eight teams, while the school’s girls took sixth place.
Also there locally was Northmor. The Lady Knights finished fourth and the boys were seventh. The girls’ meet was won by Clear Fork, while the host school was tops in the boys’ meet.
The Scot boys, who tallied 117.5 team points, finished first in the 3200 relay, as the team of Satchel Denton, Josh Irvin, Kevin Jones and James Hubbard finished in 8:44.41. Irvin, Hubbard and Jones were joined by Austyn Albanese in winning the distance medley in 11:26.94. Jones then added an individual win, taking the 800 in 2:04.4.
Highland’s girls, who tallied 89 points on the evening, were paced by Lydia Morgan. She claimed first in the 100 hurdles in 17.5 and also won the 300 hurdles in 49.22.
For Northmor, the girls’ team finished with 94 points and were highlighted by a meet record-breaking performance in the girls’ discus. Kyndall Williams, Alisha Pletcher and Mikki Chapman were the top three individual competitors in the 24-girl event and finished with a combined total distance of 327’7” to top the old meet record by nearly 17 feet.
Williams, Pletcher and Chelsea Trainer teamed up to take first place in the shot put with a total of 91’7.75”. Also, in the girls’ distance medley, Isabelle Ditullio, Kristen Duryea, Grace Johnson and Rachel Morrison took first in 14:31.99. The Knight boys finished with 54 points and were highlighted by the pole vault trio of Jamie Baldridge, Brody Mayes and Chris Stiver, who took second in the event.
Mount Gilead Relays
The host school swept the boys’ and girls’ meets at Friday, April 11’s Mount Gilead Relays with nearly the same point total.
The boys’ team scored 100 points to top Pleasant by 30, while the girls’ scored 99 to finish with an 11-point win.
In the boys’ 6400 relay, the quartet of Tyler Beck, Kyle Ciballi, Luke Hutchinson and Austin Hallabrin finished first in 19:53. The shuttle hurdles relay saw Bobby Starlin, Jason Robinson, Ciballi and Sawyer Shipman win in 1:09.2; while Ethan Hatfield, Hallabrin, Hutchinson and Beck took the 3200 relay in 8:50. In the 800 relay, Andrew Baer, Joseph Elson, Jonah Barnett and Deandre Cook finished first in 1:36.7. The distance medley had Nicholas Weiss, Ciballi, Shipman and Beck win in 7:43.6, while Baer, Elson, Hutchinson and Hallabrin took the 1600 relay in 3:33.8.
In the girls’ meet, Mount Gilead won the shuttle hurdles, as Rachel Bush, Bryanna Bolha, Rebecca Kindred and Savannah Randall finished in 1:07.4. In the distance medley, Hannah Bush, Brittany Schuller, Morgan Brooke and McKenzie McKirgan won with a time of 9:27. Also, the Lady Indians took the 1600 relay in 4:21.1 with Rachel Bush, Bolha, Taryn Chapman and Jenna Shipman running the race.
Cardington was also in the meet, with both teams finished seventh. The boys scored 14 points and were highlighted by their distance medley team of Jacob Long, Dallas Crum, Spencer Baxter and Mitch Yake running third. For the girls, who tallied eight points, their shot put trio of Kelsee Lothes, Chesney Adams and Bailey Shaffer finished fourth.
