UPDATE 07/04/14… 4:23 p.m. - A trucking business near Mt. Gilead suffered a major fire about 8:39 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

Emergency crews were called to Mitchell Trucking at 5277 Wolford Road on a structure fire.

Units from Johnsville, Troy Twp and Iberia fire departments responded to the blaze. Upon arrival, crews found a metal structure containing five trucks fully engulfed in flames.

The fire marshall was on the scene and the cause is under investigation.

Owner Dale Mitchll said Friday very few trucks are left. He lost four pickups, five 6-axle trucks, three single-axle trucks and a salt spreader. One of the picks ups was brand new.

The fire appears to have started in the front of the structure. Mitchell has been at this location since 1996 and said he has insurance but, “not enough to cover the loss.” He added at least three employees will be without jobs for awhile.
