Be on lookout for bald eagles
Winter is an excellent time to watch for bald eagles, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Bald eagles begin courtship and nest-building activity in January and February, making now one of the best times to view them.

Highland to celebrate Winter Homecoming
On Friday, Highland Student Council will sponsor Winter Homecoming 2024 activities. The homecoming ceremony will take place directly after the boys JV basketball game against Shelby. The Homecoming Court includes freshmen attendants Ava Williams and Kane Stover, sophomores Kylee Beal and Rhett Russell, and juniors Faith Gantz and Darrian Rollison. Queen candidates are Megan Decker, Kaymi Lewis and Morgan Snider. King candidates are Dane Nauman, Manny Parsley and Aron West. ODNR: ‘No Ice is Safe Ice’
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio’s natural wonders shine in the wintertime, however, as the temperatures drop, it is important to remember during those chilly adventures that “No Ice is Safe Ice.” While frozen lakes, ponds, and rivers may be alluring to outdoor explorers, ice is never 100% safe and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) urges outdoor enthusiasts to stay alert.

Reentry coalition established in county
An ongoing effort to help formerly incarcerated Morrow County residents reestablish their lives has taken a major step forward, with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction awarding Southeast Healthcare a grant to establish a new reentry coalition.
SPARC program teaching key life skills
SPARC Council’s Ready for Hire program is preparing teens for success by teaching them a broad spectrum of skills through fun programming. The Morrow County after-school program is held at the Tomorrow Center in Cardington on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. and is open to all Morrow County students in ninth grade through 12th grade.
