OWjL adds summer day camp

For the first time in its 43-year history, Ohio Wesleyan University’s OWjL program is adding a summer day camp to serve talented and gifted pupils in grades four through six throughout the state.

Ohioans can support the beauty of the state’s natural world by simply checking a box on their tax return. Donations to Ohio’s Wildlife Diversity or State Nature Preserves funds are administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Journey down ‘The Silk Road’

Examine the textiles that gave the Silk Road its name, and travel across the trade routes that connected the cultures of Afro-Eurasia for centuries as The Ohio State University at Marion hosts a special art exhibition of textiles, jewelry, and gemstones — titled “The Silk Road” — in the Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery in Morrill Hall now through March 15.

Local candidates to take part in Feb. 6 forum

The American Legion Post 97 in Cardington will be sponsoring a Meet the Candidates Night on Tuesday, Feb. 6, for the primary races in Morrow County. The county offices up for election in 2024 are two commissioner seats, prosecuting attorney, recorder, treasurer, clerk of courts, sheriff, engineer, and Court of Common Pleas judge.

Local businesses seeking student interns

Morrow County employers are helping prepare county high school students in grades 9-12 for their future careers by offering paid internships. The internships are coordinated through Marion Goodwill as part of the Ready for Hire Program, a grant-funded initiative facilitated by the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC).

ODNR to open next wetlands stamp contest

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is calling on artists to get ready for the next Ohio Wetlands Habitat Stamp contest. Established in 1982, Ohio’s duck stamp program is one of the nation’s longest-running and most successful.

MOESC welcomes new board members

The Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) had three board members who were recently elected to a new four-year term and received their oath of office during the organizational meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Those members included Brad Geissman, William Hope, and Douglas Theaker.
