The Gilead Christian boys’ basketball team recently placed fourth in its division in the NCSAA Nationals. Talan Blankenship broke two team records, both previously held by Connor Page. He now holds the records for both most field goals in a season and most field goals in a career.

Connor Robinson, a seventh grade student at Cardington-Lincoln Middle School, recently competed at Bowling Green University in the Northwest Ohio YMCA Swim League championships. He was a member of the 13-14 boys’ free relay team for the Marion YMCA that won first place. The team also broke the boys’ 13-14 free relay record for their age group at the Marion YMCA. Robinson also received medals for finishing second with the 200-yard medley relay team and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke. After placing eighth in the state meet as a freshman last year, Highland’s Cael Gilmore made a huge improvement at The Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center last weekend as a sophomore.

Thanks to three state placers, the Northmor wrestling team flirted with a top-10 showing in the Division III state meet before finishing in a tie for 15th place with 35.5 points.

A rough night offensively ended Northmor’s boys’ basketball season in the Division IV district finals for the second straight year on Friday night.

COLUMBUS — Speaking with reporters last month, newly promoted linebackers coach James Laurinaitis said the decision on Sonny Styles’ positional home was above him. On Tuesday, as Ohio State kicked off its 2024 spring practice schedule, the decision appeared to have been made as Styles spent all of the portion of practice open to the media, running with the linebackers group.

COLUMBUS — As Chip Kelly stood before the media on March 5 following his first practice as the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ohio State, fielding a question about his decision to leave a head coaching position at UCLA to take a perceived lesser role in Columbus, he referenced a story he once heard about legendary musician John Lennon.

For just over three quarters of their Division IV district semifinal game at Centerburg against Patriot Prep on Tuesday, the Northmor Golden Knights struggled on offense — leading to them trailing 38-32 with only 7:30 left in regulation.

A total of 10 Morrow County wrestlers will be competing at The Ohio State University’s Jerome Schottenstein Center this weekend after qualifying for the state meet.

After a hard-fought first quarter, the Northmor boys’ basketball team pulled away from visiting Madison Christian to claim a 79-41 win in a Saturday Division IV sectional contest.
