MG girls hold off Cardington
After a freshman-sparked fourth-quarter run erased an 11-point deficit for Cardington and brought them within a 41-40 margin of visiting Mount Gilead on Tuesday, the Indians used poise and strong defense to pull out a 49-45 win over the Pirates.
Tuggle presented Legion of Valor Award
Highland High School naval science instructor and retired Command Master Chief Aaron Shipley, along with Principal Chad Carpenter, presented the Legion of Valor Award Bronze Cross for Scholastic Achievement to Navy JROTC Cadet/Lieutenant Commander Brianna Tuggle, company commander of the SCOTS Navy JROTC Unit, during an awards ceremony at Highland High School.
Northmor picks up win
Mount Gilead’s boys’ basketball got off to a fast start at KMAC-leading Northmor Wednesday night, taking an early 7-2 lead, holding an advantage for most the first quarter and exiting it tied with the Golden Knights at 17.
Hoffman Office Center to close
The office front of Hoffman Office Center in Mount Gilead will be closed at the end of January. For the owner, Tim Hoffman, the closing of the store and his retirement is not so much an ending, but a beginning for a new chapter of his life.

Cardington-Lincoln student wins spelling bee
The 2024 Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) spelling bee season is off to an impressive start. The Crawford/Morrow County Virtual Spelling Bee took place on Thursday, Jan. 18, where 35 students from eight districts competed to be crowned champion of the bee.
