Ed Wahl, Cardington resident and current pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Marion, was honored on the 40th anniversary of his ordination during the Northwestern Ohio Synod held at Bowling Green State University.

Presenting him the framed recognition certificate was Synod Bishop Marcus Lohrman. Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton also congratulated Pastor Wahl.

A native of Bellevue, Ohio, the pastor was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue.

A graduate of Bellevue High School, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Capital University. Following several years of teaching art to young students at Galion, he decided the “system wasn’t to my liking. I was always interested in the seminary,” which is where he returned, gradu- ating and ordained in 1976. He accepted a call to Tri- Lutheran Parish in Tulley, North Dakota, 12 miles from the Canadian border.

In February, 1980 he took a call to the St. John’s Parish in Jasper Indiana serving there until October, 1998 when he accepted the call to St Paul Lutheran, Cardington. He became pastor with Trinity Lutheran in October, 2010.

The pastor and his wife, the former Carol Ackerman of Cardington, have two sons, Brady and Morgan/Joy Harper, Somerville, Mass and a daughter, Emily Wahl/Eric Macey of Portland Oregon The Wahls have one grandchild
