The Mount Gilead State Park was the setting for the June Morrow County Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Seventy-five Chamber members and their friends filled the main shelter house A to enjoy a picnic lunch and­­ hear updates about progress being made on the park improvements.

Park Manager, Lora Weiser gave a description of the latest changes in the campground. There are now “full service camp sites” with showers, flush toilets and a laundry available for campers. She also pointed out improvements to the shelter house where chamber were eating their picnic lunch.

Weiser said changes are still in the design stage for the lakes. There are plans to elevate the ground on both sides of the dam to make a bridge between the two banks of the lake. Work is being done on trails and grounds throughout the park.

Friends of the Park president, Linda Harper gave an update on progress in the disc golf course. She thanked several for their contributions and in-kind gifts including: Consolidated Electric People’s Fund, Kokosing Construction, Moose Lodge 422 of Shelby, National Lime and Stone, Quikrete, Pine Lakes Golf Course, Lowes of Marion, Mood Golf and Meier stores.

The meeting concluded with thanks to golf teams and sponsors for a successful Chamber golf outing. The event at Pine Lakes Golf Course netted over $5,000. Chamber Director, Cathy Francis alerted members to watch for ­­information about the Sweet Corn Festival that is coming up July 15 and 16.
