Coming in two weeks, “Oklahoma,” the musical by Rogers and Hammerstein will be performed by the Morrow Little Theatre in the Mount Gilead High School on July 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance on July 17 at 2:30 p.m.

This musical ushered was the first collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein II and it reinvented the musical theater genre.

The play was the first to introduce a dream ballet, and because of their agreed upon writing structure, the lyrics were written before the music, allowing them to cohesively fuse song with story.

The 30 member cast features Sally Anne Kilburn as Aunt Eller, Tucker Barton as Curly, Hailie Crowder as Laurey, John Wallis as Will and Emily Levings as Ado Annie.

Playing Andrew Carnes is Glenn Kilburn and Ali Hakim is played by Monty Almoro.

Director/Choreographer is Scott Persinger. The musical is filled with such songs as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” “Many a New Day,” and “Oklahoma.”
