For five days in June, the Cardington-Lincoln Music and Drama programs teamed up with The Academy of Rising Stars Dance Department to bring local students a performing arts summer camp.

Students took classes in dance, choir, drums, music, theatre, acting, improv, lighting, stage tech, script writing and art. The camp focused on the theme of ‘finding your own beat’.

They were encouraged to be creative and talked about self awareness and identifying the influences in their lives. At the end of the camp the students performed an hour long show of singing, dancing and acting.

They performed skits they wrote themselves, sang “Go The Distance,” tap danced and sang to the song “Hakuna Matata.” They danced to the songs “Stand in the Light,” “Beat of my Drum,” whls some students played percussion.

Instructors were the schools’ choir and band director, John Brehm and drama club instructor and Rising Stars dance teacher, Tracy Williamson.

Students attending were Zach Graham, Autumn Holt, Sophia Goers, Ryan Spires, Journey Williamson, Jaxon Ongalabang, Aaron Howard, Payton Goodman, Mattie Ongalabang, A J Brehm, Luke Rowland, Abby Devore, Alexis Howard, Ella Struck, Kennedy Maceyko, Michaela Rowland, Meghan Greenawalt, Addison Plowman, Dalton Edwards, Ryan Clinger, Madison Brehm, Marlo Young, Madeline Carson, Kayleigh Ufferman, Olivia Holt, Hazel Jolliff, Jillian West-Johnston, Keian Reed, Eli Patrick Dylan Craycraft and Kiki Graham.

Camp Counselors were Destiny Williamson, Aleigha Parsons, Abby Hickman, Grace Patrick, Dana Artz, Matt Craig and Cameron Longstreth.
