The Morrow County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Sept. 24.

The group’s speaker will be Mary Kate Tripp, who will portray Victoria Clafin Woodhull.

Woodhull was the first woman to run for President of the United States in 1872.

She was born in 1838 in Homer, Ohio and has the distinction of being, with her sister Tennessee, the first woman stockbroker and one of the first women to print a weekly newspaper.

She was also the first woman to speak before a congressional committee.

Amateur actress Mary Tripp has portrayed a variety of historical figures for the Marion County Historical Society including Belle Boyd, Dolly Madison and Lizzie Lape.

The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. at the Morrow County Library Annex, 35 East High Street, Mount Gilead. Meeting is open to the public.
