The First Federal Bank of Ohio in Mount Gilead will host a Chamber of Commerce Business after Hours on Thursday, May 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bank customers and Chamber members will have the opportunity to say farewell to Manager, Steve Keen and meet the new Manager, Dave Hiatt. The change is occurring as Keen is promoted to a new position after 15 years in the Mount Gilead branch.

The promotion is bittersweet for Keen. He is taking a new position as Vice President of loans and will be based at the Galion Bank where he will oversee loans for nine branches of First Federal Bank. This week he talked about the many good memories as he looks back over his years in Mount Gilead.

Keen has been active in many organizations in the community during his years at the Mount Gilead branch. He has been on the Whetstone Developmental Disabilities Board and Chairman there for three years. He served on the United Way board, the Community Center Founders, Kiwanis, and the Masonic Lodge. Keen is a Northmor High School graduate and has an Associate degree in Business Management from Marion Technical College.

Keen is pleased to introduce Dave Hiatt as the new Branch Manager at the Chamber Business after hours Open House.

“It makes me feel good to have someone who is community minded coming in,” said Keen. “Dave has good ethics and we are blessed to have come across him for this position in Mount Gilead.”

Hiatt comes to the First Federal Bank after 10 years with Huntington Bank. He looks forward to working in a smaller bank where there is more interaction with people.

“You can make a difference in a smaller community,” said Hiatt. “You’re not just a number here in Mount Gilead.”

Hiatt is a graduate of Shelby High School and lives in the Shelby community. He has two sons. One is a senior and one an eighth grader. Hiatt has coached baseball and basketball in the area and enjoys having his sons’ friends around.

Some services through First Federal that Hiatt will work with are home and car loans, home equity lines of credit, credit cards, savings and checking accounts, online banking and financial services such as CDs, IRA’s and money market accounts.

Hiatt and Keen are proud of the local ownership and history of First Federal Bank of Ohio. It was founded in 1891 and has served the community for 125 years.
