For the second year the Baillie Lumber Company of Iberia gave a Sustaining Gift to the Morrow County Community Center.

Baillie Lumber Company Plant Manager Russell Joan said that the decision to give the gift of $2,000 to the Morrow County Community Center was the decision of a committee at the the Iberia plant. He said that the Corporate office recommends the local plants give back to the communities where they live.

Baillie Lumber in Iberia is part of a family owned company with locations all over the United States and around the world. Joan said he has been a plant manager there for 38 years.

“Our company believes in giving back to the community where we work and live,” Joan said. “We know the Community Center is for the people in this community.”

Joan has himself been a member of the Morrow County Community Center for several years and his favorite time to come in is early in the morning. He also arranged for the company to have a corporate membership. With that the employees at the plant are able to come in all year long. Each employee has a Baillie Lumber member card that allows them to come in.

Community Center Directing Manager Sara Baldwin thanked Joan on behalf of Community Center members and board. Community Center Board Member Erin Kelty also thanked Joan for his work getting the gift. She noted that Joan has been a regular member in the early morning group that comes in to exercise. This year Joan has been missed because he couldn’t come in due to illness in his family.

The Morrow County Community Center has more than 400 members. Most are from Morrow County or work in Morrow County. Russell Joan encourages everyone to come in to the Center. Hours are convenient opening at 5 a.m and closing at 8 p.m. Monday – Thursday.

Friday hours are 5 a.m.- 6 p.m., Sat. Hours 6 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday noon – 4 p.m. The Morrow County Community Center is at 16 S. Main St. in Mount Gilead, Phone 419-947-2100.
