A meeting will be held tonight which could help determine the fate of the Galion Eagles building, 137 Harding Way E.

The 5 p.m. meeting comes several weeks after a state Fraternal Order of Eagles official temporarily closed the building.

According to Fraternal Order of Eagles Grand Aerie Marketing & Communications Director Zack Timmons, an investigation is being held at the Galion group.

“The Fraternal Order of Eagles Grand Aerie has assigned a representative to look into matters at Fraternal Order of Eagles Galion No. 630,” Timmons said. “The Grand Aerie is unable to comment further, pending the investigation.”

Timmons declined to reveal the nature of the investigation.

Speculation is that the future of the group will be tied to those who come to Wednesday’s meeting and are willing to help the club.

The Galion group, which once was estimated to have 500 members, now reportedly has about 200-300.

Tonight’s meeting at the Eagles building is not open to public.

“The meeting is open to all members of the Galion Eagles in good standing,” Timmons said.

Several members of the Eagles declined to speak on the record about the matter.
