Judging soil is actually more fun than it sounds; just ask any one of the sophomores of Highland FFA who competed Friday, September 25th at the County contest.

After working very hard for weeks and preparing in class the members were confident and excited about finally getting to the contest. At the contest they determined the slope of the land, evaluated the texture, drainage and structure of the soil. Once they finished evaluating the soil, they then determined any limitations the area might pose when using it for farmland or for urban purposes.

Highland’s top four participants that will be going on to the District contest are: Hannah Moore, Landon Denes, Jacob Varney and Tyler Vannatter.
