Mount Vernon Nazarene University is proud to host the 2015 District 10 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Honors Choir Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The event will feature over 150 young musicians from Ashland, Coshocton, Delaware, Holmes, Knox, Licking, Morrow and Richland Counties from over 30 participating schools. The event features high school and middle school honor choirs. To be eligible, students must be nominated by their director. The day will feature a morning of instruction and will culminate with a final concert at 3:30 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium on the MVNU campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

This year’s District 10 Honor choirs will feature Dr. Amy Chivington, Director of Music Education from Otterbein University directing the high school choir. The middle school director will be Loren Veigel (retired director from Massillon-Washington High School) and Artistic director of VOCI (Voices of Canton, Inc.) The middle school choral group will also have the pleasure of premiering a newly commissioned work entitled “Sing To Me” composed by Laura Farnell.
