The Mount Gilead High School Class of 1953 celebrated its 62nd reunion Saturday evening, October 31, 2015. It was organized by Jack Sweeney, Jack Wallace and Jean Mosher.
A buffet dinner was held at The Cornerstone Café and Grill on the Square in Mt. Gilead. David Cover acted as master of ceremonies, Bill Rinehart gave the invocation, and Esther Powell McGee conducted a memorial service for the deceased members, which include: Phil La Roche, Jim Robinson, Janet Andrews Fahl, Jake Belt, Don Byrd, Neil Sipe, Ronald Reed, Marjory Zinn Brown, Don ‘“Ted” Hayes, Jim Mosher, Keith Evans, Chris Benton, Jim Richardson and Homer Ingmire. The remainder of the evening was spent socially. The class decided to have their next reunion in 2017.
Class members attending from Mount Gilead were: Portia Detrow Keil and Wilford Keil, Jack and Ann Sweeney, Dorothy Sipes Clark and Bill Phillips. Others attending from elsewhere in Ohio: Jeannine Potts Kinsey and Jim Kinsey from Carey; Jim and Bev Coning from Crestline; Leta Rathburn Lawhead from Marion; David and Fran Cover from Edison; Bill and Roxanne Rinehart from Bloomdale; Darleen Klingel Vail and Mack Vail from Bloomville; Jack WaHace, Esther Powell McGee and Bill McGee, and Jean Mosher from Columbus, Ohio.
