Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present the 48th annual performance of G. F. Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. This free event will take place in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium on the MVNU campus.

The presentation will be performed by the MVNU Choral Union, faculty and guest soloists and chamber orchestra. The featured soloists are Elizabeth Barrett, MVNU music faculty member and adjunct professor of voice at Otterbein University; Carolyn Redman (‘89), classical performer and adjunct voice professor at Kenyon College and Otterbein University; Tyler Skidmore (‘04), music specialist with the Medina, Ohio, City School District and frequent area vocalist. Returning for his 18th year as bass soloist is David Templeton, Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at The College of Charleston, Charleston, S.C. John Packard, MVNU Music Department Chair, and guest musician James Becker will assist on trumpet. David Robinson will return as the harpsichordist and Sharon Blaydes is the concert master.

The 160-voice Choral Union includes the combined choirs of MVNU and community singers. Conducting the performance will be Dr. Robert Tocheff, Professor of Music in the MVNU Music Department.
