The Morrow County Retired Teachers Association sponsored a retirement planning workshop for active teachers within 5-10 years from retirement on March 15 in the Mount Gilead High School community room.

The late afternoon session began with a light supper provided by MCRTA members.

Two topics and speakers were featured. STRS member education specialist, Hope K. Short, provided attendees with information on how to calculate their final average salaries, payment options for receiving STRS retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit and health care.

Greg Taylor, representing Legacy Retirement Group, spoke on complete retirement planning, stressing potential problems facing retirees and ways to avoid them.

MCRTA will meet for lunch at noon April 4 at Trinity UMC. The program will feature Marilyn Schraff, a Marion County retired teacher and author.
