Troy King, Cardington-Lincoln teacher, was present when members of Jenkins-Vaughan Auxiliary Unit 97 met for their regular meeting on May 17.

King, one of the co-advisors of the annual trip to Washington DC by Cardington-Lincoln eighth grade students, was present to accept the hand crafted wreath the students were to place on the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington DC.

The wreath was presented by Shirley Dendinger who has crafted a wreath for the students for many years. There were 65 students scheduled to visit Washington D C this year.

King said this is the 21st year they have made this journey where they were to tour memorials and this year they were cleared to tour the White House. The trip was scheduled for May 18-21. In other matters, the unit agreed to donate $50 to the Beautification Committee for flowers to be planted in the village barrels. Betty Cook said the unit has met 76% of its membership goal for the year.

The Poppy distribution schedule was set and the menu for the Cardington Street Fair was determined. It will include sandwiches, pie, cake, cookies ice cream, chips and beverages. The schedule of workers was also announced.
