Two arrested after late night chase in Cardington
UPDATE —- Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 - The Cardington Police Department has filed charges on two individuals in connection with the recent break in to an abandoned building in the Village of Cardington.
Samuel Mitchell, 40, Lucasville, is charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering and one count of Possession of Criminal Tools.
Mark Mitchell, 49, Ashley, is charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering and one count of Possession of Criminal Tools.
Both are being held in the Morrow County Correctional Facility
Jan. 31, 2014 – Three people were taken into custody after a late night chase in Cardington early Friday morning.
Cardington Police Chief John L. Hinton reported officers from the Cardington Police Department with assistance from the Morrow County Sheriffs’ Office, Mt. Gilead Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol apprehended three individuals attempting to gain access to an abandoned building in the Village of Cardington at approximately 1:33 a.m.
Hinton said one individual was apprehended at the scene, while two others fled on foot. The second individual was later apprehended hiding in a motor vehicle. The third individual was apprehended with the help of the Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter. He was located in a tree line wearing camouflage clothing.
Chief Hinton would like to thank all agencies involved for their assistance. A special thanks to Sheriff Steve Brenneman and Chief Zerman for the use of their Canine Units and to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for the use of their helicopter. Without the combined team effort of all agencies, these apprehensions would not have been possible.
Names of the individuals are not being released at this time, charges are pending.
