A two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon resulted in a pickup truck on its top in front of McDonald’s on W. Marion Rd. in Mt. Gilead.
Paula Ward, 43, of Edison was eastbound in a 1995 Chevrolet S10 on W. Marion Rd. at 2:37 p.m.
Viola Franks, 84, of Cardington, was parking her 2005 Buick Century in the McDonald’s parking lot and accelerated instead of braking, jumping the curb and sidewalk, hitting the concrete base of a light pole and continued north, striking Ward’s vehicle. The truck rolled over onto its top and spun around to face the opposite direction. The Buick continued across W. Marion Road and stopped in the tree lawn at Rite Aid.
No injuries were reported and Franks was cited for operation without reasonable control.
