Public welcome at ribbon-cutting ceremony

After a year of construction, Morrow County Hospital at The Cardinal Center will hold a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Open House on Wednesday, June 11, 5-7 p.m. (ceremony at 5:15 p.m.). The facility is located at 73 Sportsman’s Drive, Marengo, OH 43334.


The public is invited to attend this event. Morrow County Hospital officials and staff, as well as public officials and contractors will be on hand to celebrate the opening of MCH’s latest care facility.


Morrow County Hospital at The Cardinal Center is NOT a rapid-response center. Services available at the 14,440 state-of-the-art facility are MCH Primary Care, Laboratory, Radiology, Rehab Services, and Specialty Center, in addition to Cardinal Family Dental.


MCH Primary Care


The current hours of operation for MCH Primary Care Cardinal Center are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday from 7:30-11:30 a.m. All major insurances are accepted.


To receive care at MCH Primary Care Cardinal Center, an individual must be an established patient, or want to become a patient, of Dr. Addington, Dr. Silva or Brandy Bower, PA-C. An appointment will be necessary, if you would like to become a new patient.


To schedule an appointment, call (419) 253-0585. After June 11, you may stop-in the office or call to schedule an appointment. When you come for your appointment, you will need a Photo ID, insurance card, Medicare pharmacy card, co-payment, all medications in original containers, including over-the-counter medications, completed New Patient Medical History and Personal Information Form, and prior medical records, if available.


Dr. William Addington, DO, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. As an Internist, Dr. Addington specializes in adult (patients over age 16) disease and chronic conditions. Starting June 11, 2014, Dr. Addington will see patients at MCH Primary Care Cardinal Center four days a week and at MCH Primary Care Cardington one day a week.


Many adults today have health problems that require special attention. Dr. Addington is an expert in the diagnosis, treatment and management of adult diseases such as Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension, Congestive Heart Failure + Diabetes Type I & II, Peripheral Neuropathy + COPD, Asthma, Emphysema + Hypercholesterol, Thyroid Diseases, Anemia, Vitamin D Deficiency + Gastrointestinal Disease -GERD, Peptic Ulcer Disease, Irritable Bowel Disease + Acute Infections, Headaches + Patients on Coumadin Therapy.


Dr. Addington is also a National Certified Medical Examiner (NRCME) for CDL/DOT truck driver physicals. He received his Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine; went to Medical School at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and served his Residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital.


Brandy Bower, PA-C certified physician assistant (PA-C), is excited to be part of the MCH Primary Care Cardinal Center team where she will be working with Dr. Addington and Dr. Silva when it opens on June 11.


Bower is from Harpster, Ohio, and, after graduating from Ridgedale High School, she completed the licensed practical nurse program at Tri-Rivers Career Center. With a desire to continue on her nursing career path, Bower relocated to Findlay, Ohio, where she worked two years. It was there that she entered the physician assistant program at the University of Findlay and received a Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant Studies degree.


Bower’s first job after college was with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Outpatient Clinic, in Lima, Ohio, where she worked for eight years, prior to her new assignment with Morrow County Hospital. During that time, Brandy acquired her Master’s Degree through the University of Nebraska.


For Bower, the commitment to serve Morrow County is close to her heart and close to her home where she grew up. Accentuating her sports background with her twin sister, she believes in “giving 110 percent, going the extra mile and serving others - all of the reasons why I entered the health care field.”


Dr. Ariel Silva, MD, will see patients at MCH Primary Care Cardinal Center one day a week and will see patients in Cardington four days a week. In his medical practice, Dr. Silva offers Infant and child healthcare, including well and ill visits + Annual Exams + Comprehensive chronic disease management and care coordination programs to include: asthma, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol + Age-Specific Screenings + TB Skin Testing + Immunizations + Blood Pressure Checks + Medical Clearance for Surgery + Physicals -Sports, School and Camp + Electrocardiograms + Pulmonary Function Tests + Preventative Care + and much more.


Dr. Silva provides family care, from age one through senior citizens.


Laboratory Services


To use the lab services, a valid order from a licensed practitioner is required. No appointment is necessary — walk-ins are welcome. The patient’s lab results will be sent to the ordering Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. If you would like to learn more about how to get a copy of your lab results or how to set up an account in the Morrow County Hospital Health Portal, please contact the hospital’s Health Information Management department – (419) 946-5015.


Samples testing will be performed at the Morrow County Hospital Laboratory. Testing not performed at the Morrow County Hospital Laboratory will be sent to MCH’s reference laboratory OhioHealth Laboratories at Riverside Methodist Hospital.


Patients will need to provide insurance information and sign a consent for each date of service along with a valid order from a licensed practitioner for testing. All patients are welcome to use our services provided they have a valid order from a licensed practitioner.


Radiology Services


Any general x-ray exam can be performed at the Cardinal Center – extremities, spine, joints, chest, etc.


No appointment is necessary to have an x-ray – walk-ins are welcome, but individuals will need a signed order from a Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to have an x-ray.


Radiology exams are read by one of the 80 specialized and highly trained radiologists at Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates, Inc. The patient’s x-ray report (results) will be sent to the ordering Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.


Rehab Services


Current hours of operation for rehabilitation services will be 7 a.m.-4 p.m, by appointment, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments can be made by calling – (419) 253-0585. All major insurances are accepted, and the center will inform patients of their therapy benefits before starting their care.


To start Physical Therapy, a prescription from the patient’s provider (MD, DO, NP, PA, DC) is needed, as well as insurance card/form of payment, and an appointment.


Speech and Occupational Therapy will be available at the Cardinal Center, just as they are at Morrow County Hospital. Please contact the center about your scheduling location preferences.


The Cardinal Center will offer memberships to use the rehab facility after a patient’s course of Physical Therapy (Phase II). The facility will also host a range of group wellness and fitness classes annually that can be attended. (See morrowcountyhospital.com for the current calendar of course offerings.)


Dental Services


Cardinal Family Dental will feature Dr. William J. Lenz, who accepts most major dental plans and has a target date to open of Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Dentistry is available for adults, kids and families. Dr. Lenz uses cosmetic “white type” filling materials and provides comprehensive dentistry with an emphasis on prevention.


A lifetime resident of Ohio, Dr. Lenz attended Ohio State University’s Dental Hygiene program and received a Bachelor of Science in 1996. He continued his education at O.S.U.’s College of Dentistry and graduated in 2001. While going through dental school Dr. Lenz was also an instructor at Columbus State’s Dental Hygiene Program where he taught two of his three hygienists.


Dr. Lenz began in private practice over ten years ago and purchased Reynoldsburg Dental Center in 2003. Since then, he moved the office to our new location at 6504 East Main Street in Reynoldsburg and has dedicated much of his personal time to its renovation and remodeling.


To give patients the best care possible, Dr. Lenz stays up to date with continuing education classes and state-of-the-art dental technology. He is also a member of the ADA (American Dental Association), ODA (Ohio Dental Association), CDS (Columbus Dental Society), and GCSCD (Greater Columbus Society of Contemporary Dentistry).
