UPDATED: 06.26.14 4:15 p.m. - Mt. Gilead resident Angela Urwin appeared in Morrow County Municipal Court today for an initial appearance resulting from her alleged involvement in a stabbing that occurred at her residence on West Union Street June 23, 2014.
Visiting Judge James Hoover, retired from Crawford County, heard the case, sitting in for Judge Lee McClelland.
Court-appointed Attorney Earl Desmond requested a reasonable bond, citing Urwin has never failed to appear in court, lives locally, and was employed until she was arrested.
Attorney Thomas Smith of the Morrow County Prosecutor’s office requested a high bond due to the nature of the charges. He cited previous incidents of assault and domestic violence charges from 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Judge Hoover determined bond would be set at $150,000 on the second-degree Felonious Assault charge and $100,000 on the third degree felony Domestic Violence charge. Urwin is to have no contact with the alleged victim and is not to use weapons of any type.
A preliminary hearing will be held before July 3, 2014.
