It’s time for our community to support the Whetstone Levy. Right now we have 172 families on a waiting list for services for children with developmental disabilities. Some are autistic. Others have Downs Syndrome. Any family could have such an experience. They need help. Without early intervention, these children are condemned to failure and their families, to poverty and/or exhaustion.
Morrow County has the lowest voted millage in the state. We are ranked 83 out of 88 counties on per capital spending for DD services. For only 15 cents a day, we can restore services lost eight to ten years ago when renewal levies expired.
If you have a $100,000 home, you’ll pay $4.85 per month. Do we care enough to do this for our friends and neighbors, and perhaps for our own families? When canvassing in Sparta, we found that everyone with whom we talked supported the levy. They care. I care. You probably do, too. Please, now we have to get out and vote.
