Dear Mr. William Bowman,
This is in response to your letter to the editor of our town Sentinel. “When one sees the sign “Farmers Market” you would think of the bountiful produce being offered for sale that the farmers produce.”
This is in fact what you will see here in Mt. Gilead, and more! Each week we have our supportive community come to our Farmers Market to pick up some produce, fresh baked goods, gluten free items, honey, maple syrup, artisan handcrafted items, and crafts.
When one comes to the market in Mt. Gilead when its taking place on early Saturdays from 9-12, you immediately are greeted with our banner that states that it is exactly what it is, the Farmers Market in Mt. Gilead, nothing more. There is and has never been a banner that states anything with alcohol or promoting Budweiser. I think you might have been mistaken for the Sweet Corn Festival banner that had the banner stating where their “beer garden” was at later in the day of that particular festival.
Our community’s Farmers Market gives the real meaning to what a market stands for, local produce, crafts, and baked goods. I am sure if you came to visit us at the market every Saturday mornings from 9-12 till the end of September; you will know this to be true. I hope to see you there!
Thank you all for the positive encouragement and continued support! Shop Local!
