Cardington led after the first and second quarters at home against Northmor on Friday, but the Knights were able to claim a 45-34 win thanks to a strong second half.
The Pirates led 7-6 after the opening period and 15-13 at the intermission, but Northmor stormed ahead after outscoring their hosts 14-7 in the third.
The Knights then solidified their win by taking the fourth period by an 18-12 margin. Northmor got 13 points from Taylor Shirley and 12 from Shelbie Wiseman in the contest. Kyndall Williams added eight.
For the Pirates, Allysen Smith led the team with nine.
The Pirates also fell to Elgin by a 47-22 margin last Monday in their final game of 2013. The Comets took a 13-3 lead after the first period and never looked back in picking up the win.
Smith once again led the team, scoring eight points in the game.
Highland claimed their second win of the season last Monday when they hosted East Knox.
In their 46-35 win, the Scots only led 8-6 after the opening period, but outscored their opponents 13-8 in the second and 11-7 in the third to take control of the game.
Both teams finished with 14 fourth-quarter points, allowing Highland to finish with the win.
Highland’s Lexi Winkelfoos totaled 11 points to lead her team, while Rachel Best added 10.
The Scots would not be able to make it two in a row on Friday, though, as host Centerburg jumped out to a 19-3 lead after eight minutes on their way to winning 56-22.
Centerburg outscored the Scots in all four quarters, with a 13-10 second period being the most closely contested.
Hailey Moore’s six points was tops for the team.
Mount Gilead Indians
A slow start doomed Mount Gilead in a 65-33 loss at home against Heath last Monday.
In the non-league contest, Heath jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter, which they increased to a 30-12 margin by the half.
Mount Gilead played their guests closely in the third quarter, only getting outscored 16-15; but Heath took the final eight minutes by a 19-6 margin to finish off the game.
Brittany Broadwater scored a team-high 10 points for the Indians, while Morgan Brooke finished with nine.
