Scot bowlers having strong season
This weekend was a busy one for the Highland Scots bowling team. First, on Friday, the Scots traveled to Blue Fusion to bowl against Harding. The Lady Scots were defeated with a match total of 1343-1918. High scores for the Lady Scots came from four-year senior Ashley Koob, 182 and first-year junior Tristan Welch 173 and 179.
The boy’s team was victorious with a match total of 2253-2052. Scores worth noting from their match were: 4-year senior Will Schindley, 201, first-year sophomore, Mitch Hawley, 203, third-year senior, Isaiah Whitt, 209 and 210 and four-year senior Gaige Goodman, 233. The boy’s team also shot their highest baker game of the season at 236.
On Saturday, Highland hosted Buckeye Valley. The Lady Scots were short one player and lost 1234-1782. Having a good game for the Lady Scots was Welch rolling a 183. The varsity boys pulled out the win by a narrow margin of only 11 pins. Their match total was 2227-2216. Leading the way towards their victory was Schindley, shooting a 209 and 192 for a 401 series. Other notable scores from their match were Whitt, 203, second-year sophomore Devin Schoellkopf, 215, and Goodman, 234.
With their victory on Saturday, the varsity boys move on to the undefeated record of 8-0. Their next match will be a MOAC divisional game with Cardington on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. The match will be held at Colonial City Lanes, in Mount Vernon.
