Lady Knights suffer pair of losses last week

The Northmor girls’ basketball team had a rough week, losing both of their games.
In a non-league contest Wednesday hosting Bucyrus, the Knights struggled in the second half of a 47-29 loss. After falling behind 15-4 after the first quarter, Northmor closed within a 22-16 margin by the half. However, they were outscored 10-6 in the third and 15-7 in the fourth as Bucyrus pulled away.
Kyndall Williams scored nine to lead her team.
More costly to the Knights in their attempts to keep up with the leaders in the Blue Division was a Saturday Mid-Ohio Conference loss at home to Ridgedale by a 40-30 margin.
The Rockets took a 7-4 lead after the first quarter and gradually added to it by outscoring Northmor 10-7 in the second quarter and 12-8 in the third. Both teams finished the game with 11 in the fourth.
Allie Tupps scored 13 to lead the Knights, while Williams added 10.
Mount Gilead Indians
Fredericktown dominated the opening three quarters against Mount Gilead on Saturday in a 67-17 home win.
The Freddies led 23-2 after the first quarter, 42-7 at the half and 61-7 going into the fourth before MG outscored them 10-6 over the final eight minutes.
Selina Mulkey scored eight points to pace the Indians.
Mount Gilead also lost at East Knox Wednesday by a 61-21 margin. No further information was available.
Highland couldn’t get untracked offensively in the first half at River Valley Thursday in a 56-26 loss.
The Scots trailed 14-0 after the opening period and 29-4 at the half. They played better in the second half, only being outscored 27-22, but couldn’t recover from those opening 16 minutes.
Lexi Winkelfoos led Highland with six points.
Buckeye Valley outscored Cardington in all four quarters to take a 51-33 home win over the Pirates on Thursday.
The Barons jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the opening period and then outscored the locals 10-9 in the second, 11-6 in the third and 18-14 in the fourth period to pull away for the 18-point win.
Kaitlyn Kavanaugh tallied 14 points to lead Cardington offensively.
