The Wayside Mt. Gilead Garden Club held their February 20 meeting at the Hospice of Morrow County.
The eleven members in attendance answered roll call by naming their favorite garden art.
The minutes were read and approved as amended. The Treasurer’s Report and reports from the Committees were given. Doris McManis for Communications announced that the Hearts for Hospice will be held on April 12 with a Silent Auction at 4:00 p.m., Dinner at 5:00 pm followed by the Live Auction. Marcia Lawyer noted that the Program Booklet has been submitted to OAGC. Civic Beautification noted that the uptown garden will be evaluated to determine what work will be needed. Marilee George provided a rough copy of the Fair Flower Show Schedule as it has been prepared by B. Strain.
Refreshments provided by Mandy Rocks and Erica Grooms were enjoyed. This was followed by a demonstration by Marilee George on how to make garden art out of odd pieces of glass and pottery you might have around the house. She was able to show the many different shapes and form it can take.
Following the program Ann Arnett’s floral design was critiqued using OAGC Handbook criteria.
Reminder: Next month is Guest Night and will be held on March 20 at the Hospice. The program is Japanese “Kokedama” (moss) String Gardening presented by Christine Libby, Perennials Expert from Alta Greenhouse. The program will begin at 7:00 pm and is open to the public.
