McKenzie Smith, a member of the Cardington FFA, placed in the District Speaking contest and moved on to the state. She competed in the Advanced Prepared Speech, usually six to eight minutes in length. She had to memorize the speech word for word and afterwards the judges asked her a variety of questions about her topic “Agents of Change: Becoming an Advocate for Agriculture.” She won the District 6 by roughly 24 points.
McKenzie competed in the state contest held March 8 where her competition included the top 20 contestants in the state.
The Cardington FFA chapter congratulates McKenzie.
