Public hearing scheduled for July 22 on retire/rehire

The Mount Gilead Exempted Village School District Board of Education hereby gives public notice in accordance with Section 3307.353 of the Ohio Revised Code that Jeff Thompson, who is currently employed by the Board of Education as Superintendent, will be retired and seeking re-employment with the Mount Gilead Exempted Village School District in the same position following his service retirement. The Board of Education will hold a public meeting on the issue of re-employing the above-named person at a meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 7:00PM at the Board of Education located at 145 N. Cherry Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio .

Northmor Class of 1974 to hold 40th reunion

The Northmor Class of 1974 is planning their 40th reunion, set for July 25 and 26 and is seeking graduates who have not been contacted. A pot-luck meal is planned for July 25 at the home of John and Linda Beal. Contact the Beals at 419-362-1169 for driving instructions and time. Friday’s activity is open to other Northmor classes from the 70s. Saturday, the class of ‘74 will meet at Der Dutchman on SR 97 at 5:30 p.m. with pre-purchased meal tickets.

MG BOE to hold special meeting July 22

The Mount Gilead Exempted Village School will hold a special meeting after the public hearing on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 to discuss negotiations. No action to be taken.

Fourth Saturday Breakfast is July 26

First Presbyterian Church, 55 N. Cherry St. will host a Fourth Saturday Breakfast, July 26, 7-10am. The menu will be made-to-order omelets, hash browns, and toast. The cost is $6.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children. Proceeds will be donated to the Whetstone Special Olympics.

Hospice workshop for children coming up August 2

Hospice of Morrow County is hosting a workshop on Saturday, August 2nd from 10 am to 2 pm for children ages 6-12. The focus of the free workshop is to assist children with healing from any significant loss they have experienced. Sparta Advent sponsoring Back to School Bash August 9

On August 9th from 5-7 PM the Sparta Advent Christian Church will be offering free food and basic elementary school supplies (while supplies last) to families in the Highland Community. Highland High School’s Open House set for August 12

Highland High School’s Open House is scheduled for August 12th 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Students will be able to pick up their schedules with locker assignments, visit their classrooms, and chat with the staff. There is no additional freshman orientation. The high school supply list is available on the website @ www.highland.k12.oh.us. Fair parade entry forms available

Heartbeat of Morrow County

The Blessings for Many, The Blessings of Many! Heartbeat of Morrow County’s “Boutique” seeks donations of gently used clothing from newborn up to size 5 (boy& girl sizes 2-5 needed the most), linens, equipment, children’s books, maternity clothes and more. Any Morrow County resident is eligible to receive items that they need at no charge, (limits do apply per two month cycle)! We also have new items, diapers and furniture that can be purchased with Baby Bucks that parents earn through our “Earn While You Learn” program. Hours are Tuesday 1-3pm / 6-8pm & Thursday 1-3pm. No Limits Food Pantry needs donations

The volunteers at the food pantry provided 10,047 individuals and 90,397 meals for Morrow County residents in 2013. Our shelves are almost bare. Please Help us feed our county. (Must be a resident of Morrow County to receive food.) No Limits is located at 4046 Vine Street, Edison, OH 419-946-5900.

TOPS meets on Monday evenings

Marengo MOPS meets 1st, 3rd Fridays monthly

Marengo MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets from 9:30-11:30 am, the first and third Fridays of the month from September to May. Voices of Morrow County is a club which meets to provide Morrow County citizens with informative and educational programs about social justice issues. The club meets the third Tuesday each month at the Community Services Bldg., 619 W. Marion Rd., Entrance B.

Planning to breastfeed? Then you’ll want the information and encouragement that La Leche League provides. Dance held every Saturday in Marion

A Marion Dance is held each Saturday from 8-12 p.m. at Sawyer Ludwig Park in the Shrine Building at 1313 White Oaks Rd., Marion. Admission is $8 for adults. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are available. No smoking.

The Elm Valley Joint Fire District monthly meeting is held the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at 3 N. Harrison St., Ashley, in the firehouse.

Veterans Services meet third Wednesday monthly

The Veterans Service Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month with the exception of November’s meeting which will be held on the second Wednesday at 10 a.m. The public is welcome.
