A sure sign of spring is the annual Maple Syrup Festival hosted by the Lutheran Memorial Camp, Fulton.


The 40th annual festival will open at 10:30 am and run to 4 pm on Sunday, March 9. During that time the traditional pancake and sausage meal will be served. The dinner is $7 for adults and $5 for youths 5-12 years of age and kids four and under can eat for free. The dinner includes real maple syrup served on the pancakes.


All proceeds support the camp’s “Campership Program,” to assure that all kids can to go camp.


Enhancing the meal will be many activities that make this a family affair.


There will be Sugar Bush tours,, live entertainment with Avalon Nine and Friends, tractor and horse drawn wagon rides. Fresh sassafras tea and homemade maple doughnuts, maple syrup, maple candy and fresh home made baked goods will be sold.


The meal and much of the edible goods will be sold from the Cedar Lodge.


This event attracts visitors from across the state. Situated on 400 acres of rolling woodlands, the Lutheran Memorial Camp provides a faith based camping experience for all ages, coupled with outdoor activities and environmental education for all seasons. Adult and youth team building retreats utilize the specially designed Challenge Course.


Various locales and lodges within the camp are also available for public rental on special occasions.


The camp is located at 2790 State Route 61 south of Fulton.
