Mount Gilead graduate Kara Grossman is the new certified Zumba instructor this summer at the Morrow County Community Center (MCCC) in Mount Gilead. Her group said she brings a fresh, new and upbeat flavor to the exercises. Zumba enthusiast, Lisa Pine said they’re learning all new moves and the music is great!
X camp is the outside, high intensity boot camp that will be held every Saturday in the summer. Sessions will be at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. There will be a maximum of 12 participants per session on first come, first serve basis. Ray Kidder will be the instructor. He asks that participants bring a water bottle and come early. Kidder said the X camp includes: tire flips, sledge hammers, kettle bells, speed, power and exhaustion!
Body Sculpt with Lamara Rogers is beginning its second month at MCCC. Rogers calls the program “get ready for swimsuit weather!” The class is every Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. You can sign in for a month at a time or drop in for classes that fit your schedule. Body Sculpt is a full body workout with focus on hips, buns and core.
Another new activity at the Community Center is X fit WOW’s, or Workout of the Week along with WOD’s Workout of the Day. They are designed for a challenging workout and results are tracked on the white board at the Community Center. Ambler says the fun in X fit workouts is in encouraging each other and pushing one another for good results.
Two favorite programs will continue through the summer. Tai Chi with Marlene and Steve Renick is held on Monday at 12:30 and Thursday at 6 p.m. They are certified to teach Tai Chi by the Arthritis Foundation. Silver Sneakers with Instructor Joann Trainer, RN is held on Mon. and Wed. at 8:45 a.m. All classes are held at the Activity Center with X fit activities at the Center gym and X camp on the park at the Square.
Summer hours at the 16 S. Main St. Community Center are Mon.-Thurs. 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fri. 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat. 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
