This month’s Shop Hop in Mt. Gilead will be Friday, August 8 from 5 - 8 p.m. in downtown shops. This month’s featured shop is The Briar Patch at 42 S. Main Street. The Briar Patch offers primitives and country style decor. Hope to see you in Mt. Gilead!
Second Saturday breakfast is August 9
Sacred Hearts Knights of Columbus will have the Second Saturday pancake breakfast on Aug.9th from 7-10am at theC/L Intermediate School, Co. Rd. 168. Watch for the yellow sign. All proceeds will go to Special Olympics in Morrow Co. This is an All/U/Can/Eat pancake Breakfast. Menu: pancakes, egg patties, home made sausage gravy and biscuits, fruit cup,watermelon, coffee and juice. Adults $6, Children $3. Come out and meet new friends and enjoy the great food!

Gary Squires Memorial Car Show in Marion August 9
The Gary Squires Memorial Car Show will be held on North Main Street in downtown Marion on Aug. 9. Registration will be from noon to 3 p.m. and the registration fee is $10. There will be 50+ sponsor choice awards and proceeds benefit Safety City of Marion. Main Street will be closed from the railroad tracks to Klerx Ave. during the event. Highland High School’s Open House set for August 12
Highland High School’s Open House is scheduled for August 12th 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Students will be able to pick up their schedules with locker assignments, visit their classrooms, and chat with the staff. Humane Society Rummage/Bake Sale August 16
The Humane Society of Morrow County will hold its annual Rummage and Bake Sale Saturday, Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Whetstone Industries, 440 Douglas Street, Mount Gilead. Shoppers can also participate in raffles.

American Red Cross in need of blood donations
The American Red Cross is requesting help to raise awareness of a critical need for blood donations. We are facing a looming blood shortage, leading to an urgent need for donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve and give. Donations through the Red Cross are down approximately eight percent over the last 11 weeks, resulting in about 80,000 fewer donations than expected. The number of donors continues to decline and the shortfall is significant enough that the Red Cross could experience an emergency situation in the coming weeks. The Blessings for Many, The Blessings of Many! Heartbeat of Morrow County’s “Boutique” seeks donations of gently used clothing from newborn up to size 5 (boy& girl sizes 2-5 needed the most), linens, equipment, children’s books, maternity clothes and more.
