Recorders office to close briefly last week of August


The Morrow County Recorders office will be closing for lunch from 11:45 am - 12:30 pm August 25 through the 29, 2014.


Special board mtg for MGBOE is August 28


The Mount Gilead EVSD will hold a special board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 at 7;00 p.m. in the board office at 145 North Cherry Street, Mount Gilead. to discuss and vote on the Mount Gilead Teachers’ Association agreement.


Ohio Central to hold Fall Semester registration on Sept. 6


Ohio Central Bible College will hold its fall semester registration for classes on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Iberia Presbyterian Church. Adults age 18 and over with a high school diploma or G.E.D. can enroll in Old Testament Survey or The Psalms. The first day of class will be Sept.13. Chess Club begins September 9


Join Pete and Rhonda Dettra on Tuesday afternoons for the Mt. Gilead Public Library’s Chess Club, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at 4 p.m. on the 3rd floor. The club is open to all ages and skill levels. Call the library at 419-947-2735 for more info.


Awareness event coming up Sept. 24

American Red Cross in need of blood donations


The American Red Cross is requesting help to raise awareness of a critical need for blood donations. We are facing a looming blood shortage. Donations through the Red Cross are down approx. 8% over the last 11 weeks. The shortfall is significant enough that the Red Cross could experience an emergency situation in the coming weeks. Cardington library looking for trustee


The Cardington-Lincoln Public Library has a vacancy for a library trustee with a term ending Dec. 31, 2016. This is a volunteer position. Interested C-L School District residents should send a cover letter accompanied by a resume to the President Board of Trustees, Cardington-Lincoln Public Library, P.O. Box 38, Cardington, OH 43315. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.


Fair parade entry forms available


Anyone interested in participating in the 2014 Morrow County Fair parade on Sunday, August 31st can get forms in the Sr. and Jr. Fair Board offices when the offices are open. Deadline for parade is Friday, August 29th @ 6 pm in the Sr. Fair office. Questions, call Russ Mayer 419-560-3689.


Heartbeat of Morrow County seeks donations


Heartbeat of Morrow County’s “Boutique” seeks donations of gently used clothing from newborn up to size 5 (boy& girl sizes 2-5 needed the most), linens, equipment, children’s books, maternity clothes and more. No Limits Food Pantry in urgent need of donations


We are in need of food and/or monetary donations. Due to lack of donations we are not accepting new clients. We are serving to existing food pantry clients from Morrow County. Hours are 10 -11:45 am, closed for lunch, re-open at 12:30 – 2:45 pm Monday and Wednesday 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. We would like to thank the community for their support. Voices of Morrow County is a club which meets to provide Morrow County citizens with informative and educational programs about social justice issues. The club meets the 3rd Tuesday each month at the Community Services Bldg., 619 W. Marion Rd., Entrance B.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are being held on Monday nights from 5 -6 pm and Friday nights from 4 -5 pm in Mt. Gilead at the RPR/Mental Health Building, 950 Meadow Drive.

The Narcotics Anonymous “Lunch Bunch” meetings are being held daily in Mt. Gilead from noon - 1:00 at 81 North Rich St. The Monday night NA “Hope in Recovery” meeting is also being held from 5 - 6 pm at the RPR/Mental Health Building, 950 Meadow Drive.


Friday Night Faith & Hope Group meets weekly


Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Friday night, 8-9 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 75 S. Cherry St., Mt Gilead. There is also an Al-Anon (family of alcoholics) meeting held separately.

Dance held every Saturday in Marion


A Marion Dance is held each Saturday from 8-12 p.m. at Sawyer Ludwig Park in the Shrine Building at 1313 White Oaks Rd., Marion. Admission is $8 for adults. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are available. No smoking.


Elm Valley Joint F.D. meets second Monday


The Elm Valley Joint Fire District monthly meeting is held the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at 3 N. Harrison St., Ashley, in the firehouse.
