The Morrow County Community Center (MCCC) Board was pleased to announce the first “Featured MCCC Member of the Month” is Allison Vance.
“This beauty princess can flip tires and does high intensity weight training,” said MCCC Director Eugene Ambler.
Miss Ohio Contestant, Allison Vance has worked out at the Morrow County Community Center in Mount Gilead since mid-May. She’s been doing weight training and worked out at the Center to “look her best for the swimsuit competition in the June Miss Ohio Contest.”
This was Vance’s third attempt to win the Miss Ohio crown. She decided after receiving judges’ comments for the swimsuit competition last year that she needed to do some work at the Community Center and spoke with Director and Personal Trainer Ambler. Ambler said he set a tough workout schedule for her and she was very determined to work out every day.
Vance said, “It was hard work, but seeing the results made it all worthwhile.”
She was amazed to see the transformation in her body in such a short time (just over a month). Vance believes it definitely made a difference in how she performed in the Miss Ohio Contest.
“I have more confidence now and feel better about my body,” Vance said. “I’ll continue to work out every day here at the Community Center until I go back to college.”
Vance, a 2010 Mount Gilead High School graduate, majors in nutrition at Kent State University and is in the Air Force ROTC program there. She is only a little disappointed in the results of the Miss Ohio contest in June. She was the fourth place runner-up of 25 contestants and she plans to continue to enter scholarship contests in the future.
Vance said she especially appreciates the support of her parents, Michael and Kathleen Vance. She also appreciates the encouragement and support of Ambler and Morrow County Community Center members. She is one of several college students who have summer memberships at the Community Center.
